STAND UP TO CANCER WEEK- 19TH- 23RD MARCH 2018
This week students at Acle Academy have been standing up to cancer in a week long charity event. The fundraising week has been pioneered by 12 year old Tom Doran who created a variety of events to help raise money for the charity. The week started with a bake sale where students across the school baked delicious cakes to sell at break and lunch time. On Tuesday the school launched a ‘Guess how many sweets in the jar’ competition. Wednesday, students and staff took part in a ‘Guess the baby picture quiz’. Staff from across the Academy shared baby photos, much to the laughter and delight of the students. Thursday students had an opportunity to ‘beat the teacher’# in a table tennis tournament. Friday saw the culmination of events with a non uniform event in the theme of orange and black to celebrate the Stand Up To Cancer colours. In addition, students took part in a colour dash fun run and a grand raffle.
We are still counting the donation but believe we are close to our £800 target.
We are very proud of Tom Doran and his team of helpers for showing such dedication, passion and community spirit.
Students raised £363.85 on the Friday non uniform day.
Congratulations to all students who participated in the Santa Run- raising £276.56 for East Anglian Children's Hospice
This Autumn term we have raised £452.40 for Jeans for Genes day and £133.44 for the Poppy Appeal.
